About Houston

Houston, Texas is a city on the rise! America’s 4th largest metropolitan area (in population) is also the most diverse in the nation. A booming job market, low cost of living and reputation as a safe, family-friendly city have made Houston a top destination for those relocating from other areas of the country. The oil & gas industry is still a major player in Houston, but other industries such as healthcare, education and technology continue to grow as well. With its diverse selection of urban, suburban and even rural neighborhoods, the greater Houston area offers the right community for everyone. Most residents live in the suburbs and commute to the city’s core, however there is a great revitalization happening downtown and in the surrounding areas, and Houston’s “inner loop” is becoming increasingly popular with millennials and boomers alike.

Tourists and locals both enjoy attending the annual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which hosts some of the nation’s top performers each year along with a carnival and traditional rodeo events. World class shopping is offered at the Galleria, Memorial City Mall and City Centre. Houston is also known for delicious restaurants, especially its many local taco spots and BBQ joints - all served with a side of that Southern hospitality. The beach is just a few miles away, and residents can be in the Texas hill country in just a few hours. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy jogging and cycling in the warm southern sunshine. The Houston area’s cruise ship terminal, Hobby airport and Bush Intercontinental airport make travel to anywhere in the world convenient.
