Mexico City, or Ciudad de Mexico in Spanish, was also known as Distrito Federal before its official name change in 2016. This capital city of Mexico is home to almost 9 million people. In fact, more people call Mexico City home than New York City or London!

This densely populated metro area is also packed full of cultural, historical, artistic and recreational opportunities for both residents and tourists. The city welcomes over 2 million tourists each year. Popular attractions are its main square called the Zócalo, the Palacio Nacional and the Angel of Independence. Nearby archeological ruins are another fascinating highlight.

Mexico City enjoys a strong job market as one of Latin America’s top economic centers. The city is home to the Mexican Stock Exchange, the nation’s largest banks and many other important national and international companies.
