Meet Bacalar

Bacalar in Mexico is known as the ‘Pueblo Magico’ to the locals; its awe-inspiring multicolored lagoon with seven shades of blue is what makes it worthy of such a title.

Bacalar in Mexico is most known for its ‘Lagoon of Seven Colors,’ and what a marvel it is. The lagoon is given its blue shades from seven deep natural wells called cenotes, which are dotted around the body of water. To see the lagoon during the day is an entirely different experience from seeing it at night due to the spectrum of colors the light reveals. There are plenty of water-related activities you can do once you’ve picked your jaw up off the floor and finished admiring this astonishing natural wonder. Aside from the lagoon, Bacalar is home to several impressive human-made structures, such as the coastal San Felipe fort, which was once used to defend the town’s shores from pirate invasions. Many Mayan ruins and history ooze from the city’s foundations and a museum to showcase some of the more impressive finds.
