Elounda, also known as Elounta or Elouda, is a small town located on the northern coast of the island of Crete. The history of the town dates back to the ancient Cretan civilization of the 7th millennium BC, when it was known as the city of Olous. During the 1930s, Elounda was a stopping point for long-distance flights to and from the Middle East. In more recent years, Elounda has become a popular tourist destination, famed for its beautiful beaches, picturesque fishing villages, and luxury resorts.

As of 2011, Elounda was home to only 2,193 inhabitants, making it quite a small community. Elounda’s small size does limit its variety of different kinds of neighborhoods, but there are still a number of great options available to suit a range of lifestyles!

Elounda is made up of seven smaller villages. The largest and most populous village is Schisma, but if you’re looking for a more traditional, rural neighborhood, you may want to consider one of the smaller villages, like Kato Elounda, Kato Pine, Epano Pine, or Agia Paraskevi.
